Like other technologies before it, IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) is being hyped as the answer to any number of networking challenges. In this case, IMS architecture promises to enable a cost-effective common platform for delivery converged IP services over wireline, cable, DSL, GSM, UMTS, 3G, Wi-Fi and WiMAX networks.

The IMS Forum issued its first IMS Report Card in October in an effort to dispel the myths and address the hype concerning the readiness and complexity of IMS. With conflicting information floating throughout the telecom industry, the forum provided factual data from its IMS Forum Plugfests to clarify the state of IMS product and service deployments as standards are being developed in parallel.

Check out the full IMS Report Card to compare the myths, reality and proof points of IMS tests, deployment, applications, interoperability and business cases.
