Rumors that Verizon is prepping plans to offer a Motorola phone that will support both CDMA and GSM suggest that the service provider has heard the complaints of its global road warrior customers. Though users could utilize the Motorola Q9 while abroad, it will lack 3G support while on the GSM network.

Verizon users have few connection problems as long as they are in the U.S., but are stopped cold if they travel to Europe or Asia. That's because this carrier's phones use the CDMA standard, while most of the world is on the GSM standard.

These people may have a new solution to this problem before too much longer. This telecom will soon release a Windows Mobile smartphone that will support both GSM and CDMA networks, according to Boy Genius Report.

Not surprisingly, the Motorola Q9 "Napoleon" is clearly intended to be used primarily in the U.S., as it will offer EV-DO Rev A, while it will lack 3G support on GSM networks.

This model will supposedly be the first in the Moto Q series to include a built-in fingerprint scanner.

Details on the Motorola Q9 world phone
According to this unconfirmed report, this smartphone will run Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard.

It will have a tablet shape, with a keyboard below its 320-by-240 pixel display. Other features will supposedly include Wi-Fi and a 1500 mAh battery.
